Houston Chinatown
Chinatown Business District is consist of a stretch on Bellaire Blvd from Fondren to Beltway 8. You can find them at zip code 77036. Businesses alongside of W Sam Houston South is 77072.
Since 1980's, Chinese and Taiwanese business owners migrated their businesses from East Downtown (EaDo) to this southwest neighborhood. Most of them landed at Metropole Center. There are still many stores existed since that era. From there, Few landed at Diho Square as it was built in 1983*. Dynasty Plaza released its spaces to offices and stores within its 2-story shopping mall in 1980's. Further to the west, Sterling Plaza started to lease larger retail spaces in 2005. Around 2010, the giant Dun Huang Plaza was all filled up.
During the summer of 2019, Bellaire Food Street mall opened several restaurants in different phases. Chinatown is still growing as more restaurants and shops opening.
